ohhh claudio.

[i know, i basically look like a chinese girl.]

okay, so i think my mac charger might have a short in it. it all the sudden won't charge my computer, unless i a.) rub the cord, b.) put it back in, and c.) put pressure on it. thats what she said? let's hope this is just a phase, or this is gonna be a long couple of months.....

last thursday, i had just my french 457 class.
after class, we went over to hure, which is basically ritual now.
that place is too good to be left alone.
kinda like me [kidddding daddy].
oh man, moving on.
that place always stresses me out because i can never decide what i want because everything looks amazing. on the one hand, i want to try new things. i want to venture out and pretty much have every thing in that blessed patisserie, but at the same time, i also want to get the same thing over and over. i tend to have that problem everywhere i go. but i'm seriously challenging myself here to get something different so i don't mess out. and there's always that huge fear that whatever i'm getting isn't going to be as good as what i've already had. but then it's always worth it in the end, because it ends up being amazing and my new favorite thing.
anyways, i finally decided on trying two of the many stuffed rolls they have.
[tomate et basilic, lardon et fromage]

oh, and of course i had to get a dessert as well. better to have my dessert during the day than at night, right??
[palmier]

the rolls were so freaking good. they're made with fresh bread and then stuffed with ingredients and they're warm and so good. and the palmier.....don't even get me started. okay, i'll rant about it anyways. remember when i told you to remember about it the other day when it was in my first pictures of hure? i've always [and by always, i mean like a week, which is forever in my book.] been curious to see what it tastes like and finally decided to try it, which was probably the best decision of the day. why? maybe because it tastes basically like the crust of apple pie or baklava. it's puff pastry and sugar baked until it's a little crispy. not doughy at all. oh my gosh, it's way good! but please know that i shared this bad boy with everyone i came in contact with because it was so large. so technically i could've gotten two of them....because that makes sense.

after that, we met some friends at mcdonalds, where they were using the internet there. we started leaving to go do a paris walk when my friend annie realized that her iphone was gone. and then she put it together that a guy from earlier that had asked her to sign a petition or something while she was in mcdonalds stole it. seriously, how crappy/freaky/lame is that? i felt so bad for her. i wanted to die, and it wasn't even mine. we went back to look for it, and then went back to the institute to try and see if we could find daryl to ask him what to do, but he wasn't there.

soon after, the english class got out and the girls that were in the class came out and heard the story. to take her mind off it, we decided to watch gossip girl, which we're pretty much all hooked on. i vote that it's chuck's baby. i just know it.

after that, we decided to go out to try this new gelato place that a couple of the girls had tried earlier and had said it was BETTER than amorino's, which i could hardly believe. what could be better than amorino's?? i was still skeptic, but decided to trust and give it a go. and the palmier hadn't quite sugared me out, and i just have to push it to the limit.
[hmmm, same flower shape as amorino's. also, i was feeling un peu fruity, so i got coconut and mango.]

decision: definitely NOT better than amorino's. why? well, okay....the mango was pretty bomb. it literally tasted like a mango. ["the snozzberries taste like snoozberries!" "snozzberry? who ever heard of a snozzberry?"] buuut, the coconut was absolutely disgusting. no joke, the pieces of coconut in it tasted like cheese. like, they had literally put shredded cheese in the ice cream. i'm not kidding, it was nasty. and it was another one of those stupid mcdonald's cones that i hate so much. and i was eating my cone and halfway down, it ran out of ice cream. so i basically got gipped and i hate the whole place now. lame! i was so mad, i wanted to go back and get a refund and use it to get the taste out of my mouth with amorino's, but i refrained. and why? because i ran into this:
yes. all you harry potter lovers out there, i was on nicolas flamel road. it was frickin' awesome. of course i had to get a picture! and our teacher told us that we could go and meet [or maybe it was go see his grave......] nicolas flamel himself. i didn't even know he really existed!.......does that mean that harry potter is real too? MY MIND IS BLOWN.

we all decided to try and go to the ballet that night since tiff's birthday was coming up and that night was the last night was the last night it was showing, so we decided to try and see if we could get tickets. so all the girls decided they wanted to go and shop in h&m for an outfit to wear that night to the ballet. and since i didn't really bring anything fancy enough to wear to a ballet [i forgot my long blue evening gown that anastasia wears to the ballet at home. dang it!], i decided to look as well. and i couldn't find anything i liked. what the hay? seriously though, i think i'm going through a mainstream clothing store draught. i haven't been able to find anything in them that i love and then i go into a thrift store and die of happiness. maybe i'm a grandma at heart? probably.
[on our way home. there's always random bands/people playing instruments inside the metro for money. i loved this one! sorry for the shaky filming, i was being sneaky with my camera so they wouldn't try and make me pay for videoing them.]

after that, we all went home to go and get ready for the ballet. can't believe i'm writing that like it's no big deal! it was way cool. we got there about an hour early.
[this is literally where "the phantom of the opera" happened. how freaking cool is that? and needless to say, the building was gorgeous.]

background on next couple hours: so the reason why we showed up an hour early is because our art history teacher bernie told us that if you show up to a show at least 30 minutes before the show starts, they will sell the seats that haven't sold yet, which generally are the really nice expensive seats, and sell them to students at discount prices. and we were totally down for that, duhhh.

so we showed up thinking we're probably be able to get tickets, even though it was the final curtain for this ballet that i can't remember at this time. it was a modern one. anyways, while we were in line, this guy came up to us and asked us if two of us wanted tickets. since we thought we'd be able to get tickets, we let sam and annie buy the tickets from him and they went in. the rest of us [me, tiff, riley, morning, kelly, and anna] kept on waiting. turns out all the tickets were sold out and the only ones left were ones where you couldn't even see the stage. so basically just to hear the music. ummm, what's the point of going to the ballet if you can't even see it? yeah. lame.

we all took off [right before the guy told us to come back the next day for the next showing, and then said right after that that there were no showings tomorrow because tonight was the last showing......okay??] and decided to go to dinner. at a restaurant that anna had heard of, but couldn't remember the address to, so we had to find a mcdonald's to get internet to look it up on morning's laptop.
[where's waldo: blue edition. spotted: in mcdonald's. prize: a happy meal, s'il vous plait?]

we finally figured out where it was and then took off to the sketchiest darkest part of town where it was. greeeaaat. but it was all worth it because it was italian, which i am in love with. naturally. it was way authentic and nice inside, with lots of italian men greeting us in italian and showing us to our table. after looking through the menu and asking the waiter what i should get, i settled on a simple pasta with tomatoes and basil. and the waiters suggested me and tiff get a big pot of it and share, because it'd be the same price as getting two plates of it, but we'd get more food, which we're all about, so naturally we agreed.

it was suuuch a fun night talking to all the girls over dinner! i hadn't really hung out with girls other than tiff, sam, and annie much, so it was nice to get to know the other girls. and we spent the whole night [or should i say i spent the whole night] talking about this summer and dating and laughing about boys and taking pictures. just one of those girls nights. because all the other nights i'm here, i'm with tons of guys.
[i know this isn't the greatest picture, but we can all blame claudio for that. and blame the fact that i'm immodest to the fact that it was hotter than a mug in that place, and i just wasn't having it.]
[cutie pies morning and anna.]

oh! story time: so i'm talking alot, and i'm not a good multi-tasker, so i'm not eating at all. and then i realize that the waiters are starting to clear the table, so i start eating really fast because hello, i'm stawwwvin'. we started talking to our waiter who's name is claudio, and mind you, he's like 18 years old. apparently he was the owner's son or something. anyways, he's asking us if we want dessert and he's telling us all of them and we're repeating them after him, trying to pronounce them. he turns to me and says "you're good" and i thought he was talking about how i was pronouncing the dessert and then he goes "i watched you eat. you ate really good. you don't need dessert." and was literally serious. i'm not even kidding. oh my gosh, i was laughing so hard! he was trying to compliment me by saying i ate well. it was just so funny though how he said it. made me feel so good and thin inside :]

after all that goodness, we left. and on our way out, claudio yelled "i'm sorry i said you ate good, i was only trying to give you a compliment!" which only made us laugh more. oh claudio. if only you really knew how much i could eat. i mean.....moving on. so we're trying to find the metro, and we get seriously lost. like, completely lost. and we're going in different directions and all of us think we know where we're going but we don't. finally, we find the metro stop randomly, get the h on, and take our butts home.

all in all, we didn't get to go to the ballet, i didn't get any good shopping done, but the day still ended with a bang. maybe because i ate good? probably. okay, now to the serious stuff. i'm going running tomorrow morning. and i'm gonna run my butt off to "outta your mind" by lil jon. right michelle? right. ohhh get real, fat chance. bonne nuit!

  1. Dude, your "that's what she said" comments are getting a bit out of hand. Too close for comfort? Haha. Anyway, you look cute in all your pictures. Especially as a Chinese girl. Sorry you didn't get to see the ballet!! That waiter sounds pretty funny.
