getting lost in the best kind of way.

[paris, je t'aime.]

okay, i am definitely craving a root beer float right now. "oh my gosh, you're so random!" [angus, thongs, and perfect snogging. go see it. you won't regret it.] too bad they only have crappy orangina here. seriously, who comes up with this crap? whoever it is needs to burn, badly.

last wednesday, art history, my only class, was cancelled.
naturally, i decided that i would wake up early and go running.
did that happen?
i'd rather not answer that.
let's just say....there are still a few unwanted pounds that have accumulated on my arce.
movingon...
so i slept in [SPOILER ALERT]. for a little while. and then went and woke up tiff. and we watched the last chunk of general conference together, which was fantastic.

after, we decided we wanted to walk up the eiffel tower. swell idea for a day off, yes? we thought so too. and we were going to go with our friends sam, hailey, and brynn. only thing was was that sam wanted to do a paris walk in her area first, so we had to wait. so instead, me and tiff walked around trying to find a post office, which we never did end up finding. so instead, i just sent off some postcards in someone's random mailbox. whoops, hope that's okay, johnson family! that's not really their last name.
we finally went over to the eiffel tower to meet up with sam, but she never showed.
while we wait, we people-watched and wrote letters to people. and then hailey randomly showed up. and since we were still waiting on sam, we decided to go get lost and explore.
[i forgot to add that it was one of those yummy gloomy days that i love so much. bliss.]
 [me and hailey.]
 [twinners.]
[somebody go get tyra, because i think i'm on america's next top model. in france. yup.]

for some reason, me and tiff haven't really explored around our area yet. i think it's because we're usually gone alll day at school and then just out with friends running around and stuff, and by the time we get home, we're dead tired. and michelle has blisters on her feet from her boots. and we're some starvin' marvins. and we definitely don't feel like being explorers anymore. that'll just have to be on the back burner for now, i guess. until i get calluses on my feet [just kidding, i have beautiful non-blistered feet].

so anyways, we picked a random street and just started wandering.
[mmmm fall is coming along. and i'm lovin' it so much!]
[this adorable random apartment building that i fell in love with.]

we also found some food. of course. but just a snack. we went to a boucherie, which is basically a butcher shop, where i proceeded to wait in line for about 10 minutes, just for two chicken wings. i am not kidding. i'd probably be annoyed with me too if i was the butcher. but i wanted them, and wasn't going to let the social norm get the better of my curiosity/hunger/i want it now. pas mal for only 60 centimes in all. we also went over to a boulangerie [bakery] and got me a little roll that had some cheese in it. reminded me of the cheese bagels back at the byu bookstore and i almost missed it.

later on, hailey had to go, and me and tiff had some more time to kill before we had dinner with our host mom [yes, i had just eaten. it was a snack. and i had hardly eaten anything all day. leave me alone.], so we wandered some more, which was just about the best decision we made all day, because we ran into a jackpot of all jackpots. we found a vintage designer clothes store. as in vintage chanel, dior, yves saint laurent, prada. the works. you better believe i was in heaven. seriously, i wanted to see every single piece of clothing in that store and catalog it in my brain to savor for later. plus, i also secretly wished i was married to the little old man in there that was shopping with his wife for her birthday, and when trying to decide between two different dress, he told her "just get both sweetie, you deserve them". are there any better words that could come out of a male's mouth? actually...............let's not get started on that one. seriously though, i adored him. almost as much as i adored the store. and when i asked the lady owner where she got all her clothing, she told me it was a secret. oh, because i was thinking of going to wherever you get them and buy every single thing and starting up my own shop. YUP. lame. it was still really cool though. and i'm definitely going back.....if i can ever remember which street it was on. dang.

i know it doesn't look like much. but it was pretty amazing! everything in there was about at least a couple hundred euros. but i would be so okay with buying something if i was completely in love with it, because how cool with it be to have a vintage designer piece? i would kiss it every day and tuck it into bed every night and we would live happily ever after. i guess we'll just have to see!

after that, we somehow wandered back to the way of the eiffel tower, and by this time, it was dinner time. and we just so happened to come by the eiffel tower as it started twinkling. what a perfect end to a perfect night [cheesy, i know. get over it.]
[me with an adorable mini cooper on the way. i. need. this. car.]
[twinkle time. it seriously never ceases to amaze me. i get goosebumps every time!]

we ran the rest of the way because we thought we were late. turns out she had only just started making dinner. oh cool, glad i burned all my calories for the day. but dinner was worth the wait.
[i know it may not look like much, but it definitely was so good.]

our lady made us this quiche-like thing. it was puff pastry cooked on both sides, and then creme fraiche, which is like cream cheese, and cheese and leeks and some ham. oh, and just two eggs. i actually liked it better than a quiche because it wasn't super thick. and yes, this was for me and tiff to share. and we ate the whole dang thing.

and for dessert, madame's home-made pancakes with nutella on them. we've only had these a couple times, but they are so freakin' good. i like them because they're thicker than a crepe, but actually thinner than a normal pancake. goodness, they're delicious. and they're even better after you slather them in nutella. the rule is is that you've got to have a 5:2 ratio of nutella to pancake. and by the way, i have no idea what i mean by those numbers. but you get the gist of it.
[i wasn't exaggerating when i said "slather nutella". i don't kid around when it comes to slathering, people. keep that in mind.]

it was the funniest thing, because manu came in after dinner saying that he was going out to buy some ciggy's [typical. chain smoker.] and then go "take a beer" [i laugh every time he says this] with his friends. i made a comment about how things are so different here than in america because he's only 19 and he can just be open with his mom about how he's going to go smoke and drink. and he asked me if i drink, and i said no. and then madame jumped in [of course] and said she didn't drink either. and then manu said "oh, so is this just coke?" and grabbed her cup of wine, teasing her. after that, he kept trying to take a drink from it and she was getting mad and yelling at him to not because it's apparently not good to mix wine with beer [i would know], and she hands me the cup of wine to keep away from him and i'm just like "ummmm, okay? yeah, give the glass of wine to me, i'll know how to keep this devil potion away from your hot 19-year-old son. nawwwt.". it was funny though. i just love it when they fight. in a healthy way, of course.

well folks, i'm still craving a root beer float. this blogging crap did nothing for keeping it off my mind. and "moves like jagger" out of my head. gosh dang it! i better have good dreams to make up for this crap. bonne nuit!
