edward paddlehands.

[ohh haay girl hayyy.]

tomorrow will be the day that i get caught up on my blog.
i promisepromisepromise.
until then...
last thursday, we woke up suuuper psyched.
whys?
because we were going canoeing on the dordogne river! duh.
[we is so exciiiited.]

we got on a bus that drove us down the river a couple miles [ummmm, like 12 or something? yeah, we didn't know what we were getting ourselves into.] and we saw this on the way.
[so that's where they get all their ducks. i should've just joined them since i've become a duck from all the duck i've eaten.]

[our canoe group! annie in the front, me in the middle, and sam in the back with the darth maul paddle. i was the only one who made that connection. nerd alert! also, me and sammie totally didn't plan on being twinners. okay, maybe we called each other the night before and extensively planned what we would wear. but so what?]

[mes amies whitney and holly. i love these girls to pieces! and just plain adorable.]

[all smiles. this is back when we were having a good time and not wanting to jump ship and burn it to the ground because we were so freakin' sick of it all. not bitter or anything. oh, and don't mine my 12-year-old boobs. as in boobs of a 12-year-old, not that they're 12 years old. okay, awkward now....]

funny times: we were rowing down the river and a tour guide boat was riding past us and we all stop and wave and say "bonjour" and our boat runs into a tree. we were laughing so hard picturing what that would've looked like/ edward paddlehands/talking in british accents/standing up on the boat [except me...i was too scared.]/norbert the tour boat riding past us multiple times/saying "norbert" in british accents/screaming "echoooo" under the bridge.

we were totally enjoying ourselves at first and trying to catch up with everyone, and then all the sudden, we were completely sick of it. like, i would've paid money to get off that dang boat. maybe because it was the longest ride of my life? actually, more like my only ride, but still. we kept having crazy rowing spurts and then giving up and just floating, which was nice. me and annie got pretty good at synchronized rowing by the end of it.

i did manage to take a lot of pictures of the scenery, which was absolutely beautiful.
[the first of many bridges. we got sooo excited seeing this and taking millions of pictures. by the 5th bridge, we were definitely over it....or under it? pardon the punT.]

[seriously, so gorgeous.]
[this picture cracks me up. kristine's in the front doing all the work and ally's in the back waving like a queen. i love these girls!]

[a castle. no big deal.]

after we fiiinally got done, we went back to sarlat for a couple hours to eat and walk around [more like go on a scavenger hunt for these vintage fashion magazines that some girls found the other day that i wanted so desperately, but we didn't end up finding them. i did manage to get a bug in my eye that was wriggling around and traumatizing my life by the second.]. then we all headed off to the marqueyssac gardens, which were absolutely beautiful.

[at first, i thought i was cross-eyed in the picture, and then i realized i wasn't. but it still makes me laugh everytime.]

[random man who wanted to jump in our picture, and then pretended to be all frustrated when we took awhile to take the picture because his wife was nearby. okay, sorry i forced you to get in my picture...? because your colors totally go with my outfit.....? not. gosh, randoms these days.]

[yes, i'm slightly obsessed with myself in this garden. i basically want to move into the little hut that we found on the trail, except that could be alittle sketch.]

another funny story was that me and tiff went off on our own to try and find a waterfall that was on the map, and of course we became parched. so we went to the nearest vending machine and the choices were :sparkling water [which we all know is just plain nasty and wrong], orangina [not a huge flavor of orange fizzy drinks....too similar to alka-seltzer] and a unknown drink called oasis. neither of us knew what oasis was, but i desperately wanted to see if it was just normal water, because my mouth literally felt like i just licked the ground as i climbed the hill up to the vending machine. so i went for it. and whaddyaknow. it's another orange drink. who hired the bozo that stocked that machine with 2 different, yet similar, orange fizzy drinks? both should be fired. once i move into my little hut and gain control of the gardens, i'll fire them both. and stock that whole dang machine with normal water and coca lite. life, liberty, and the pursuit of non-orange fizzy drinks for all.

oh, and no big deal or anything, but there just happened to be a peacock on the roof as we were leaving. and is it weird that i was alittle creeped out because it reminded me of the evil freaky peacock on kung fu panda 2 [wouldn't have seen it but that's what happens when you spend your summer having 3 children under the age of 10 as your best friends.]
[i googled a picture of "lord shen", but there was nothing good. so i spared you all. you're welcome.]

then it was dinner time.
[oh cool, it's foie gras again. because i liked it so much the first time. no, but seriously, i would've tried it this time again except i didn't want to. the salad and toast was good. and that little thing of fig jam as well.]

[pork, potatoes, and green beans. i was in freaking heaven. literally, i was yumming and oh-my-goshing all over the place. i really embarrass myself when i'm eating really good food, because i can't keep from exclaiming how delicious it is. i guess that's just my cross to bear as a foodie. and i can live with that, because who cares about appearance anyways? i sure don't....pshhhh....]

and then another amazing dessert: raspberry ice cream with tart raspberry sauce.
[oh, and did i mention it also had nuts in it? seriously, i can't believe they don't make things like this back in america. who wants a freakin' nasty trashy piece of pie when you can get a delicious sophisticated leaning-tower-of-deliciousness? you tell me. nobody, that's who. okay, actually all the obese people of america. okay, just all of america. whatever, okay?]

and then le piece de resistance:

[i stole this picture from my friend brynn because my camera decided to go nutso when i tried to snag a pic. this is our director/teacher daryl wearing anna's clip-on earring. seriously, we were dying laughing. maybe you have to know him. it was just the best thing ever.]

all in all, it was a verrrrry busy day and even though i was grumpy for a good portion of it, i'm glad i got to spend my last day in le sud de la france enjoying the scenery and just hanging out with my girls. and "lord chen". always a pleasure.

  2. You, my dear, are absolutely breathtaking in the garden. You look so cute and I wish you could just do an entire photoshoot in there. Also on the list of breathtaking are the bridges and castles while you were canoeing. And the raspberry nut dessert thing.

And I laughed so hard about you guys saying "bonjour" and then running into the side. So funny.
